The Promise of Public Education

  • Amelita Mirolo Barn 4395 Carriage Hill Lane Upper Arlington, OH, 43220 United States (map)

Join us for a powerful event that celebrates the heart of our community: public education. We'll explore how finding your voice can create mutual aid and support for our neighbors. We will be reminded and inspired by a keynote from Dr. Frances Strickland on the promise of public education. And, together, we'll join in thoughtful conversation and intentional connection as we envision and build a shared future for our broader community and champion the leaders on the front lines.

Begin your afternoon with a workshop on how to use art to build community and support our neighbors, led by Rebecca Richardson, founder of Zine Club Columbus and Museum Educator with Ohio State University Libraries, hosted by Laura Oldham for UA City Council.

Then, stay for an inspirational keynote on The Promise of Public Education, featuring Dr. Frances Strickland, former First Lady of Ohio and author, followed by a call to action from Chandra Fredrick and Jeffrey Goliver, and an opportunity to meet your local school board members:

Bexley City Schools: Dr. Jonathan Baker

Columbus City Schools: Dr. Tina Pierce

Groveport Madison Schools: LaToya Dowdell-Burger

Hilliard City Schools: Brian Perry

Upper Arlington City Schools: Dr. Nidhi Satiani

Westerville City Schools: Anisa Liban

Worthington City Schools: Kelli Davis

Co-hosted by Team Satiani, UAPA, Carolyn Casper-DuVall, Annaliese & David Mehrle, Betsy O’Brochta, Jim & JoAnn Prater, and Connie Smallwood.

Space is limited. RSVP today!
